YEREVAN. – President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Monday sent condolences to President Hassan Rouhani of Iran over a devastating earthquake that claimed hundreds of lives.

Sargsyan extended his deep condolences and support to the president and friendly people of Iran wishing, them strong spirit, and a speedy recovery to the injured, press office said in a statement.

The death toll in the earthquake has risen to 200 in Iran, according to Press TV. The 7.2-magnitude quake occurred on Sunday evening. The underground tremors were registered 204 km northeast of the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad, and 104 km west of the Iranian town of Kermanshah.
