YEREVAN. – Students, who are protesting against the bill that curtails the right of military deferment in Armenia, marched to the building of National Assembly of Armenia.

Vahan Kostanyan, an Oriental Studies student, read the demand of five students who had announced a hunger strike.

The aim of the hunger strike is to reaffirm the demands to cancel the military deferment and arrange a multilateral, democratic and representative discussion in the parliament, with the participation of all stakeholders, including students, the statement said.

Vahan Kostanyan called on people to leave the parliament's building to discuss the conditions to implement these points and end the hunger strike.

The authorities have repeatedly tried to cancel the military deferment of studies. The bill has been discussed in the parliament at second reading.
