YEREVAN. – We have tasked ourselves with stabilizing the economy in 2017, and it seems we are achieving that.

The Minister of Finance of Armenia, Vardan Aramyan, stated the aforesaid at Wednesday’s parliamentary debates on the draft of the 2018 State Budget.

He noted that the country’s fiscal policy should be aimed at economic growth and based on rules.

“We need a 5-percent economic growth to stabilize the socioeconomic situation [in Armenia],” added Aramyan.

As per Aramyan, there is a 6-percent economic growth in the first six months of this year, and a 20-percent growth in the tourism sector of Armenia.

“At the end of 2017, we will overperform the planned indicator of economic growth. In all likelihood, we will have 4- to 4.3-percent growth by the year’s end,” noted Vardan Aramyan. “And a 4.5-percent growth is expected for 2018.”
