The world's first ship operating on electric power was launched in the Chinese city of Guangzhou this week, Interfax reported citing local media.
The vessel's displacement is 2 thousand tons. The battery is charging in two hours. When fully charged, it can swim 80 kilometers.
The total length of the vessel is 70.5 meters, width - 13.9 meters. The crew consists of six people.
The technology is also planned to be used for passenger and technical water transport.
