The world’s largest lithium-ion battery was powered in the state of South Australia, the state official said on Friday.

The battery having the size of an American football field has been plugged into to Australia’s state grid, Los Angeles Times reported.

Founder of Tesla Motors Elon Musk pledged to complete construction of the world’s biggest 100-megawatt battery in 100 days. The battery is capable of providing power to 30,000 homes.

“The completion of the world's largest lithium-ion battery in record time shows that a sustainable, effective energy solution is possible,” Tesla said in a statement.
