Pope Francis calls to respect “status quo” of Jerusalem, after U.S. President Trump’s announcement to relocate the U.S Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Reuters reported.

“I make a heartfelt appeal so that all commit themselves to respecting the status quo of the city, in conformity with the pertinent resolutions of the United Nations,” said Pope, adding that the primary condition of the dialogue is respect for the rights of all people.

As reported earlier, Trump intends to relocate the U.S Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Wednesday.

The US Congress adopted a law in 1995 to replace the U.S embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. All US presidents, including Trump sign a document every six months, postponing the implementation of this decision, because of the disputed status of the city.
