US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has complicated the situation in the Middle East and is causing a split in the international community, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.

"We know that not everyone agrees with such a decision of the US President. Moreover, it provokes rather sharp reaction in Ramallah and among Palestinians, in general . Therefore, this continues to be our concern,” Peskov noted, adding that it is necessary to look for solutions through political and diplomatic means, although the situation has certainly become much more complicated

Trump reversed decades of U.S. policy on Wednesday and recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and said he would move the embassy to the city, despite warnings from around the world that the gesture further drives a wedge between Israel and the Palestinians.
