The wildfires to the north-east of Los Angeles burned at least 439 houses and other buildings, reports AP.

The fire destroyed a territory of 466 square kilometers. It is expected that the wildfire will spread in connection with gusty winds.

Firefighters said they have made progress fighting against fire, but thousands of houses remain under threat. The fire continues to move to Santa Barbara, Carpinteria and Montecito.

This is the largest and most destructive of the fires in the history of southern California. Another fire in the San Diego County caused the death of two people and destroyed at least 20 houses.
