The authorities German state of Hesse hope to gain millions from the sale of seized bitcoins, DW reported quoting Der Tagesspiegel.

According to Benjamin Krause, the prosecutor of the Central Department for combating cybercrime, the auctions will be held in the coming days.

In 2014, the police of Hesse, together with Europol and the FBI, carried out an operation against illegal online shops Hydra and Silk Road 2.0, which were engaged in the sale of drugs.

According to law enforcers, shops were used by approximately 150,000 people, who each month bought drugs for millions of euros. At the same time, the websites of the shops had an option to pay via bitcoins.

Thus, afther the raid, the authorities of Hesse became owners of 126 bitcoins.
