Fifty-four African countries demanded apology from US President Donald Trump after he referred to their nations as “shithole countries”, Telegraph reported.

“We are extremely appalled at, and strongly condemns the outrageous, racist and xenophobic remarks by the president of the United States of America as widely reported by the media," a statement added, demanding a "retraction and an apology,” stated the group of African ambassadors to the United Nations.

African representatives are concerned at the continuing and growing trend from the US toward Africa and people of African descent to denigrate the continent and people of colour.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also accused Trump of holding resist views, adding that Trump’s remarks were made on the anniversary of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010.
