African countries have demanded from US President Donald Trump to apologize for his harsh statement addressed to them.
This is said in a joint statement by a group of African countries at the United Nations (UN), and which was disseminated at a special session, reported TASS news agency of Russia.
The document stresses that this group of African countries is “extremely appalled at, and strongly condemns the outrageous, racist and xenophobic remarks attributed to the President of the United States of America,” and they demand from him “a retraction of the comment as well as an apology.”
Also, the group “is concerned at the continuing and growing trend from the US administration towards Africa and people of African descent to denigrate the continent and people of color,” it said.
Making reference to Trump’s reported derogatory comments about Haiti, this group expressed solidarity with the people of Haiti “and others that have been similarly denigrated.”
Furthermore, this group of African countries thanked the American people “who have condemned the remarks.”
