The Palestinian authority on Sunday will develop a final position in response to US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel.

Felestin (Palestine) TV reported that a special session of the Palestinian Central Council, an institution of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), will be convened to this end, according to TASS news agency of Russia.

A possible measure in response to the aforementioned decision by Trump could be the suspension of the Palestinian National Council’s historic decision to formally recognize Israel, and which was reached in 1988 in Algeria.

On December 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump stated that he recognizes Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, and said the US Department of State had been ordered to start transferring the US embassy in Israel, from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. But this decision has brought about worldwide reaction.

And on December 21, 2017, the UN General Assembly voted 128-9 with 35 abstentions in favor of a nonbinding resolution declaring Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital “null and void.” Armenia also voted for the resolution.
