One of the best portraits of the Spanish and French painter Pablo Picasso “Woman with a beret and plaid dress (Marie-Therese Walter)” will be on sale at Sotheby's in London on February 28, Antiquestradegazette reported.

The painting dated 1937 will be the star lot on traditional evening trades. Picasso depicts his long-term mistress and muse.

Given the great demand for Picasso's works around the world, this defining portrait is the ideal work of fine art to create a stir around 2018, said the chairman of the European branch of Sotheby's Helena Newman, adding that “we can offer a picture of such a caliber that we have never seen before on the market.”

The demonstration of the painting “Woman with a beret and plaid dress” will take place in Hong Kong (January 30 - February 2), Taipei (February 6-7) and New York (February 12-14). From February 22 until the trading day, Picasso's painting will be exhibited in London.
