An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 occurred in Taiwan on Wednesday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported, RIA Novosti reports.

Underground shocks were recorded at 05.59 UTC time, 11 kilometers north from Taipei City. The center of the earthquakes lay at a depth of 140 kilometers.

There are no reports about victims or destructions. No warning about the threat of tsunami was announced.
