YEREVAN. – We will organize discussions in the near future regarding the names for the candidate of the President of Armenia, and everyone will know about it.

Vahram Baghdasaryan, head of the National Assembly (NA) faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), on Wednesday told the abovementioned to reporters at Parliament.

To the remark that various RPA names for the President’s office are already circulated and there is even information that the likely candidate has already returned to Armenia, Baghdasaryan responded as follows:

“If you are specifically mentioning [Armenia’s ambassador to UK] Armen Sarkissian’s name, it’s possible that this candidacy will also be discussed. It seems to me it can be fitted in the [respective] standards; but we [RPA] have not yet reflected on the persons.

“It’s not so that there must be one [RPA] candidate and we run that discussion around one candidate. We could choose one candidate from several candidates and present [him]; we will see as a result of discussions.

The NA RPA faction leader, however, stressed that the ruling party shall select a presidential candidate who will be acceptable for all political forces in Armenia.
