The first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, worth about £ 40,000 was stolen in Thetford, UK, BBC reported.

According to the source, the edition was stolen between 8 and 9 January. Twelve rare books were stolen, including first edition of The Hobbit, four first editions of Winnie the Pooh and the first edition of Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchet.

The police urged the public, especially book dealers or employees in specialist book shops, to be vigilant in case these publications would be offered for sale
