The German Federal Motor Administration has ordered the recall of 127,000 new Audi models with the V6 TDI diesel engine due to a scandal with exhaust emissions, Bild am Sonntag reported.

A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5 and Q7 models reveal illegal mechanisms for switching off the cleaning systems. The department threatens to ban the sale of Audi A8, issued before mid-2017, The Telegraph reported.

US accuse Volkswagen of having equipped diesel cars with software that underestimates real emissions of harmful substances. Last year, Audi organized free service to improve emissions in 850 thousand cars. According to the company, this number includes those cars subjected to recall in Germany.

By February 2, Audi is required to submit its initiatives to prevent manipulation of cleaning systems.
