Relations between Armenia and Iran have a 2,000-year history, and we have stable political dialogue.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan told the aforesaid to L’Express newspaper, during his current visit to France.

In the President’s words, there are constant political visits between the two countries, and Armenia maintains relations with Iran.

“Even though Azerbaijan attempts to take advantage of the shared religion factor [with Iran], Iran has always maintained a neutral position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue,” noted Sargsyan. “[Our] relations with Iran have a positive character.”

And when asked whether Iran’s nuclear program troubles Armenia, the President said the Iran nuclear program agreement, which was signed in July 2015, is exceptionally constructive.

“France supports this agreement, about which President [Emmanuel] Macron has clearly stated,” added Serzh Sargsyan.
