After all, why Armenia’s ambassador to Great Britain, Armen Sarkissian? The question on this presidential candidate nominee of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has become a subject for discussion among broad public circles, according to Chorrord Ishkhanutyun (CI; Fourth Power) newspaper.

“According to CI’s information, [Armenia incumbent President and RPA Chairman] Serzh Sargsyan’s ‘bet’ on Armen Sarkissian [becoming the next President] has deep roots. Their friendship began long ago, when many years ago they founded joint businesses, which subsequently succeeded.

“According to CI’s sources, this circumstance has become a reason for Serzh Sargsyan to nominate his business partner’s candidacy as [the ruling party’s next] presidential candidate.

“On the list of many other businesses, Serzh Sargsyan also has a share in the [natural] gas business Armen Sarkissian has in Turkmenistan,” wrote Chorrord Ishkhanutyun.
