SpaceX failed to land one of its Falcon Heavy first-stage boosters on Tuesday, said the head of SpaceX Elon Musk, Engadget reported.

According to him, "the launch seems to have gone as well as one could have hoped with the exception of center core. The center core obviously didn't land on the drone ship, we're looking at the issue."

Falcon Heavy was created based on the Falcon 9 booster rocket. The first stage of the central segment should descend to the platform in the Atlantic Ocean 300 miles from the coast of Florida.

Musk noted that the core ran out of propellant, which kept the core from being able to slow down as much as it needed for landing.

SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket lifted off from Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
