YEREVAN. – The National Assembly of Armenia on Thursday is holding a special session, during which the MPs are debating on the bill on granting pardon and related draft laws, and which Deputy Minister of Justice Suren Krmoyan is introducing.

In his words, under the provisions of the Constitution, relations on granting pardon shall from now on be regulated under the law, and which used to be regulated with presidential decrees.

Accordingly, a petition for pardon shall henceforth be submitted solely by the convict.

As per, Krmoyan, the bill also stipulates that the Prime Minister will hereafter submit to the President the proposal for pardoning a convict.
