YEREVAN. – There was a disagreement even before forming a coalition, and which we have repeatedly stated while not being a member of the coalition yet.

Armen Rustamyan, head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party faction at the National Assembly of Armenia, stated the aforementioned at Monday’s parliamentary briefings. He noted this reflecting on their disagreements with the ruling coalition’s senior partner, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), regarding the Electoral Code, and over the territorial—a.k.a. “rating”—election system.

“By yielding to the important matter that we have accordance in having an Electoral Code, we went to it,” Rustamyan stressed, in particular. “ [But] we have never removed this matter from our agenda. (…). It will not be possible to bypass this matter for long.”

And when asked whether their disagreement with the RPA over this matter could bring about the rescinding of their memorandum on coalition, the ARF official gave a negative response, and noted that the “rating” election system was not a precondition for this memorandum.

Armen Rustamyan added that even though each and every proposal may not be accepted at once, a profound and grounded “fight” eventually achieves its result.
