Mali’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Tiéfing Konaté—with residence in Moscow, on Wednesday presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

First, the President congratulated the ambassador on his appointment, and wished him success in carrying out his diplomatic mission in Armenia. Noting that Armenia underscores political discourse and contacts with African countries, Sargsyan stressed that Armenia stands ready to explore the opportunities for cooperation with Mali.

Also, the President highlighted that in the modern world, geographical distance is no longer an obstacle for making relations between countries grow deeper; and he expressed the hope that, with the appointment of Ambassador Konaté, Armenian-Malian bilateral relations will develop.

The President and the diplomat shared the view that by becoming independent countries, Mali and Armenia have also inherited challenges; but they expressed confidence that both countries will surmount these challenges.

Ambassador Tiéfing Konaté assured that he will contribute to the development of bilateral state ties. Also, the diplomat informed that he conveyed to his country’s president Serzh Sargsyan’s invitation to the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) Summit, which Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan will host in October. The interlocutors considered the OIF another platform for the development of Armenia-Mali cooperation.
