YEREVAN. – The government has allocated to the State Tourism Committee of Armenia 49 million drams (about US$102,400) from the reserve fund.

The respective decision was made at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, during which Tigran Khachatryan, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments, introduced the draft.

In his words, these funds will be used for Armenia’s participation in the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., and which this year will be held from June 27 to July 4.

“Armenia was invited as a guest of honor,” added the deputy minister. “If a country has such a status at this festival, it must pay a small part of the funding for its participation.”

Khachatryan added that the Armenian national cuisine and handicrafts will be represented at this festival.
