YEREVAN. – It is not the individual cases that make me angry.

Candidate for the fourth President of Armenia, Ambassador to UK Armen Sarkissian, on Thursday stated the aforesaid at the National Assembly (NA), as he reflected on the fight against corruption in the country.

“It’s not on an individual case that I shall establish my attitude [toward corruption],” Sarkissian added. “I see and hear about hundreds of small and huge cases [of corruption]. It’s not possible that there will be no corruption phenomena if there is such a backdrop and there is a public attitude which is expressed by apathy, emigration.

“I try to think [about] what should be done not to have such cases. (…). The fight against corruption should be from top to bottom.”

Debates on the matter of the election of the fourth President of Armenia have kicked off Thursday in the NA.

And the respective voting is slated for Friday.
