Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory letter to Armenian President-elect Armen Sarkissian, Kremlin reported.

Putin voiced confidence that the activities of Armen Sarkissian at this high post will contribute to the further development of Russian-Armenian allied relations and deepen the Eurasian integration for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of the two countries.

Election of the fourth President of Armenia took place just a short time ago at the NA, and Ambassador to UK Armen Sarkissian was elected President by a vote of 90 for and 10 against.

The sole presidential candidate was Sarkissian, who was nominated for this office by the ruling coalition.
