Russia hopes that the discourse will deepen between the committees of the African Union and of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Hommes d’afrique magazine.

In his words, Russia closely follows the practice of holding summits between African countries and their major foreign partners, and relations between Russia and African countries are developing.

“Representatives from African countries actively participate in international conferences being held in Russia,” Lavrov added. “Dialogue between the committees of the African Union and of the Eurasian Economic Union has become a new direction for cooperation; we hope that it will grow deeper.”

The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
