YEREVAN. – Today is a very important day in Armenian-Japanese relations, and we are pleased to welcome Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono in Yerevan.

Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Monday stated the aforesaid at a joint press briefing with his visiting Japanese counterpart. 

In Mnatsakanyan’s words, last year Armenia and Japan marked the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

“Now we have the opportunity to sum up the accomplishments registered over the past 26 years, as well as to outline the further dynamic development of our relations,” he said. “We highly appreciate Japan’s permanent presence in Armenia’s development.”

The FM added that, during their talk, the interlocutors had also discussed the matter of launching direct flights between Yerevan and Tokyo, in a foreseeable future.
