YEREVAN. – While people in Armenia are divided into blacks and whites Turkey and Azerbaijan get united over Pan-Turkism, Vice Speaker of the Armenian parliament Eduard Sharmazanov in his article about the events happening in the region.

The text follows as such:

“Yesterday in Baku Erdogan and Aliyev took part in a so-called 100th anniversary march of Baku’s liberation from the Dashank-Bolshevik forces. Meanwhile, 100 years ago Turkish forces of Nuri pasha occupied Baku. Once more, Aliyev delared about “One nation – two states” and said that Turkey and Azerbaijan have to fight against the adversaries together.

 Erdogan gave a speech in similar fashion saying Ankara will always be by the side of Baku. In context of such geopolitical threats we need more serious approach. This is a challenge to Armenia and Artsakh. This is unacceptable and very alarming. Armenian authorities must stop their destroying actions and divisions of society: they have to pursue the path of national unity. I’ll repeat myself: the security challenges are of ultimate importance. Now is not the time for populist announcements but for learning lessons from mistakes of the past. There is no other way: the only path is national unity, democracy, pluralism and atmosphere of solidarity amongst all Armenian citizens”.
