Regardless of the public disposition towards the former presidents, they have been invited to attend Armenia’s independence anniversary events.

Eduard Aghajanyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, told the aforementioned to RFE/RL Armenian Service.

In his words, the government continues paying to the ex-presidents the payments prescribed by law, including to second President Robert Kocharyan who is charged with breaching the constitutional order.

Also, Aghajanyan ruled out that the government members representing the Civil Contract Party will carry out hate speech, or anti-propaganda.

“Members of the government are free in their political views,” he added, “and there is no restriction.”
