Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Syrian situation during the phone talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Kremlin press service reported.

Russian president briefed May on the Russian-Turkish stabilization agreements in the de-escalation zone of Idlib, reached at the talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on September 17.

The parties confirmed their willingness to further facilitate the settlement of the intra-Ukrainian conflict.

Vladimir Putin expressed concern over the assassination of the prime minister of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko.

The sides also touched upon  some issues related to overcoming negative trends in the world financial markets.
