YEREVAN. – Mikayel Manukyan, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party’s mayoral nominee in Sunday’s snap election for the Yerevan Council of Elders, said he voted for a prosperous and green Yerevan, as well as for the unity and solidarity of the capital city of Armenia.

Speaking to reporters after casting his ballot, Manukyan said the election campaign season was satisfactory.

“[But] the election was a little politicized, and it went further nationwide, or toward supporting the prime minister,” he added. “The prime minister’s participation [in the election campaign] deviated the course a little from its direction, the real municipal and council of elders’ elections. The prime minister set a task that it [the Yerevan city council election] is his vote of confidence.”

And when asked whether there were any pressure and anti-propaganda against their political team, the ARF mayor contender responded as follows, in particular: “In the beginning, there was targeting toward us.”
