YEREVAN. – The Investigative Committee of Armenia has filed a criminal case into the stabbing of a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in capital city Yerevan.

On Friday at around 3:50am, a report was received informing that a DRC citizen—born in 1991—was taken to a Yerevan hospital, and with stab wounds to his chest, the Investigative Committee informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. According to a statement from this medical center, this person is in critical condition.

On the same day, the committee filed a criminal case into this incident.

Subsequently, the identity of the person who committed the alleged crime was determined. He has been detained on suspicion of stabbing the 27-year-old foreign citizen.

Several forensic examinations have been commissioned.

The preliminary investigation is still in progress.
