Hurun research institute published on Wednesday the list of the richest people in China (Hurun China Rich List), South China Morning Post reported.

According to the list, Jack Ma, the founder of the e-commerce giant Alibaba, has regained the title of China's richest man having a total wealth of about $39 billion.

A total of 1893 people were shortlisted, which is 11% less compared to last year, when the number of Chinese billionaires reached 2130 people.

“A 20 per cent drop in the mainland stock exchanges, on the back of a slowing economy and the US-China trade war, resulted in 456 drop-offs this year, the highest since records began 20 years ago,” said Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher of Hurun Report.

Jack Ma topped the list of the Chinese richest people. Ma’s fortune has grown by 10 billion dollars - up to $39 billion. His successor, Daniel Zhang also was included in the list with a fortune of $580 million dollars, ranking 1007th.

Xu Jiayin , the chairman of developer China Evergrande, ranked second with a personal fortune of $39 billion ($54.8 billion), leaving behind Pony Ma, the founder of technology giant Tencent, whose wealth edged back 4 per cent to $35 billion.

China's richest woman Elizabeth Yang, property developer Country Garden, was in fourth place with a fortune of $22 billion, a 6 per cent fall on last year.
