The White House staff is trying to find out the fate of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who has gone missing in Turkey. To this end, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton have spoken with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, and urged him to provide respective information.

US President Donald Trump said he spoke with the Saudi leadership on this matter, but he provided no details. Trump noted that no one knows what has happened to Khashoggi, but expressed the hope that he is still alive.

On October 2, it became known that this Saudi journalist had gone to Saudi Arabia’s consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, to process his documents, but he had gone missing.

On October 6, the media reported that the Turkish police were considering the theory of his being murdered inside the consulate building.

Jamal Khashoggi is known for his harsh criticisms of Riyadh’s current policy.

In 2017, he left Saudi Arabia and settled in the United States.
