YEREVAN. – Chairmanship of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) has been passed on from Madagascar to Armenia.

The respective ceremony was held Thursday on the sidelines of the 17th Summit of the OIF, and which capital city Yerevan is hosting.

Taking over the OIF chairmanship from Madagascar, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this was an exciting moment.

“We are fully aware of Armenia’s responsibility over the next two years,” Pashinyan stated. “I want to thank once more to all OIF member countries and their governments for the trust [of theirs in Armenia]. Also, I want to thank and congratulate Madagascar for the important contribution [of its] to the development of the organization.”

Two years later, the OIF chairmanship will be passed on from Armenia to Tunisia.
