The recent events in Armenia did not affect the strategic cooperation between Yerevan and Moscow, Armenian National Assembly chairman Ara Babloyan said on Thursday durinf the meeting with delegation headed by the deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Neverov, the press seivce of the parliament reported.

Highlighting the current level of bilateral relations, the NA speaker attached significance to the role of parliamentary diplomacy and stressed the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.

Ara Babloyan referred to the importance of continuing cooperation in international parliamentary platforms.

Speaking about domestic political developments, Babloyan stressed that the changes in the country have not affected the strategic partnership and friendly relations between Armenia and Russia.

He added that political decisions in Armenia are being made through dialogue and negotiations.

Sergey Neverov thanked for the warm reception and expressed conviction that the allied relations between Armenia and Russia will continue expanding.

He too rated high the necessity of development inter-parliamentary relations in the sidelines of CSTO PA and CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

The parties also referred to the organizational issues of CSTO PA session and Assembly’s plenary sessions in Yerevan October 29-30.

Ara Babloyan convinced that the Armenian National Assembly is ready to ensure high level conduction of sessions.
