YEREVAN. – The newly elected mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan urged to cut costs on some events dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan.

“I have urged the city authorities to cut costs for some inappropriate events, and this will not harm the holiday. But I am sure that it will save money for our city, as winter is coming, we will have big expenses,” Hayk Marutyan told reporters after the inauguration ceremony on Saturday.

According to media reports, the municipality is expected to spend 300 million drams instead of planned 1 billion 700 million.
