STEPANAKERT. – Foreign Minister of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR), Masis Mayilian, on Monday received several board members of the International Francophone Press Union, who  had arrived in Artsakh on a familiarization visit.

The FM welcomed the delegation’s visit to Artsakh, noting that it is a good opportunity for getting acquainted with the history and culture of Artsakh as well as with the daily lives of its people, the NKR Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

During the talk, Mayilian briefed the guests on the priorities of the foreign policy of Artsakh. In particular, the minister touched upon the current phase in the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict settlement and Artsakh’s respective position, as well as the achievements in the processes of international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh and development of its foreign relations.

Masis Mayilian noted that the development of  French-speaking is paid a great importance to in Artsakh, aimed at joining the French language and culture and becoming part of the La Francophonie family. In this context, the FM stressed that the people of Artsakh fully share the ideas and values of La Francophonie; in particular, the principles of democracy, human rights, and fundamental freedoms.

Also, the Artsakh FM responded to the numerous questions posed by the guests.

The 47th Conference of the International Francophone Press Union took place, from October 9 to 12, within the framework of the 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie, in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.
