Three new provincial governors have been designated at Tuesday’s special Cabinet session of the government of Armenia.

Accordingly, the country’s former Deputy Chief of Police Hunan Poghosyan has been appointed Governor of Syunik Province, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Davit Gevorgyan has assumed the office of Governor of Aragatsotn Province, and Hambardzum Matevosyan has been designated Governor of Armavir Province.

During the rally outside the National Assembly building on October 2, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had announced about sacking the ministers as well as the six provincial governors who represented the Prosperous Armenia and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Parties.

The new governors of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Lori Provinces were appointed in the previous Cabinet meeting.
