YEREVAN. – The issue of Russian arms supplies has to be addressed to the Russian diplomats, not American, George Kent, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the European and Eurasian Bureau at the US Department of State, told reporters in Yerevan on Tuesday.

Asked about the arms race and Russian weapons supply to both parties, he agreed that this can have a humanitarian impact of the conflict, and “that is something that all of us whether we are journalists, citizens or diplomats should keep in mind”.

“I know many Armenians and Azerbaijanis were directly affected in conflicts, they lost everything and started their lives over,” Kent said in response to the question why the issue of arms race is not voiced at the UN General Assembly.

He agreed that they all have to address humanitarian challenges and try to find solutions not to leave people in fear.

Asked whether Karabakh's participation in talks was raised during the conversation with Armenian PM, Kent said: “We talked about many topics including the situation in Karabakh and how to move the process forward. Our role is to foster the conversation between the parties.”
