UK, French and Dutch ministers  have canceled their plans to participate in the SaudiArabia- hosted “Davos in the Desert” investment conference amid the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, politico reported. 

The International Monetary Fund's Christine Lagarde has also postponed her trip to the Middle East.

A UK government spokesperson said they are “very concerned” about the journalist’s disappearance.

“We encourage Turkish-Saudi collaboration and look forward to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia conducting a thorough, credible, transparent, and prompt investigation, as announced. Those bearing responsibility for his disappearance must be held to account,” the spokesperson said.

According to French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, the reports about Khashoggi’s disappearance are “serious” and require an explanation from Saudi Arabia.
