YEREVAN. – At Monday’s special session, the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia did not pass the decision on extending the timeframe for second NA reading of the package of amendments to the Electoral Code.

As per this decision, the second reading was to be held within 72 hours after its passing in the first reading.

The government, however, had proposed that the second reading take place within 24 hours after the first reading; but this draft decision was not put to vote in parliament.

And NA President Ara Babloyan announced that now they will work in the already-decided “fast mode,” whereas deadline for conducting the second reading will be determined pursuant to the NA rules of procedure.
