Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir has stated that the kingdom will take the necessary measures to prevent incidents like the murder of Saudi opposition journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Al Arabiya reported.

“Necessary steps will be taken to ensure that what has happened does not repeat,” he said.

Al-Jubeir confirmed that Saudi Arabia was committed to carrying out a full investigation into Khashoggi’s murder, and added that all persons responsible for the journalist’s death will be arrested.

On October 2, The Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi had entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, to validate documents, but had gone missing. It was argued that he was killed there for writing articles that criticize Riyadh. Saudi Arabia, however, had denied these accusations claiming that the journalist had disappeared after leaving the consulate. Subsequently, however, Riyadh confirmed that Khashoggi had died at the consulate as a result of a fight.
