Greek Ambassador Petros Mavroidis summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Daily Sabah reported.

The Ambassador was summed amid the exacerbation of Turkish-Greek relations due to geological exploration of hydrocarbon deposits in the Mediterranean Sea.

On Thursday, the Turkish navy stopped a Greek frigate from harassing a Turkish research ship on the Turkish continental shelf off the coast of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Ankara warned Athens after the incident to "abstain from acts that would cause an escalation in the region.”

Ankara has repeatedly opposed the exploration of oil and gas fields on the Cyprus shelf without taking into account the interests of the Turkish community of the island.
