YEREVAN. – At Friday’s meeting, the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and Protection of Human Rights gave its approval to the package of amendments to the Electoral Code, and for the second time.

But the proposal to remove the provision on disclosure of state secrets was accepted unanimously.

The committee had already given its consent to this bill once before, but this proposed law was not passed at the NA plenary session.

The package of amendments to the election law will be debated on once again at the special parliament session to be convened on October 29.

If the package does not pass this time as well, the snap NA election—which is expected to be conducted in December—will be held under the current Electoral Code.
