YEREVAN. – Diamond processing has to be be one of the driving forces of new Armenia’s economy, acting PM Nikol Pashinyan who is heading “My Step” bloc’s list said during the meeting with voters in the city of Nor Hachn.

 “In a new environment, this is not an easy task. But, I think that in parallel with the process of raising confidence in Armenia, we will succeed,” Pashinyan said.

He recalled that approximately 10,000 jobs in diamond processing industry were closed in the city from 2000 to 2010, and this was due to manipulations with the dram exchange rate.

According to Pashinyan, the government is working in terms of securing serious investment in the processing of diamonds, and especially in Nor Hachn where there is a professional workforce.
