YEREVAN. – We have put forward the matter of Artsakh’s participation in the negotiation process, and which is getting more and more awareness among the international community.

Acting Prime Minister and My Step Alliance leader Nikol Pashinyan stated the aforesaid during the live televised debate between the persons heading the electoral lists of the eleven political forces that will be running in Sunday’s snap parliamentary election in Armenia. He noted this in response to Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party representative Armen Rustamyan’s questioned posed to him with respect to the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) peace process.

“The Artsakh issue can’t be resolved without the consent of the Republic of Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR)], the people of Artsakh,” Pashinyan stressed, in particular.

The acting PM added that a negotiation process was in process to resolve the Karabakh conflict.

“We are saying that the matter needs to be resolved by way of [the Republic of Artsakh] being internationally recognized,” Pashinyan noted. “We are negotiating for two objectives: that Artsakh’s right to self-determination is recognized by the international community; and, also, [that] we create international guarantees for the security of Artsakh.

“We are negotiating [so] that Artsakh’s right to self-determination is internationally recognized; but there may be several additional conditions for that recognition.”
