At the Government of Armenia’s special outdoor Cabinet session Friday in Gyumri—and in connection with the 30th anniversary of the devastating earthquake that hit the northern regions of the country, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the biggest problem today was that there is no assessment as to what “disaster zone” means with respect to the areas affected by this quake, and what respective extent is specified.

“A decision needs to be made that a working group be set up, whose task will be to form a full [relevant] information package,” Pashinyan said.

He added that there was a great deal to do, and with a considerable amount of money.

“We need to figure out what needs to be done, how much money is needed, and how much time [for the work to be carried out at the earthquake disaster zone],” the acting PM stressed, in particular.
