YEREVAN. – Thirty years after the Spitak earthquake we did not manage to do everything for the complete elimination of the consequences of the devastating 1988 earthquake, Republican Party of Armenia said in a statement on Friday.

Tens of thousands of our compatriots who were killed as a result of an earthquake have become an irreparable loss for the nation, the statement reads.

“Within hours, not only the USSR republics, but also the entire international community, stood next to the Armenian people. Today, we can state that over the past three decades, despite the difficulties, we have together created prerequisites that will overcome natural and social disasters without irreversible losses,” the statement said.
